Tragedy in Our Family

I have hesitated posting this because it is just so hard to talk about, but here goes…

John has a cousin whose name is Tammy.  She and her husband and their two children, live in Virginia.  Over the weekend, their daughter was in a horrible car accident with two other teens and she did not survive the accident.  I cannot imagine what they are going through right now.  Please pray for the family.

I tell you this because we do need to pray for this family, but it has really gotten me thinking about alot of different things.  Even though we deal with all of the stuff we deal with, with Nicholas, we could lose him or anyone in our family in a car accident, or any other way for that matter.  Losing a child has got to be one of the hardest things a person has to deal with.  We don’t understand how something like this could happen (we aren’t supposed to question), you don’t know how we are going to survive it, but we have to look to God for strength and understanding that He is the planner of our universe.  He is our Father and He knows what is in our past, present, and future.  He only wants us to glorify HIM through our lives.  What we go through is a testimony to and of our faith and trust in Him.  He will be there to hold us through whatever it is we bear.

When we heard, I went searching on the internet for some news of what had happened.  Reading the article was just devastating.  I could not believe the details they printed in the news.  I felt so convicted.  We, and I am genereally speaking here, do that as a human being; we, well I know I do, want to know everything possible about everything.  I guess I think that is going to help me understand things better.  When you finish reading the article, there is a section at the bottom where people can leave comments.  This was terrible.  The comments people left were comments that I have often made in my head about stories I have read in the past.  It didn’t bother me when I thought them, but it sure bothered me when I read them about someone in our family.  There was no compassion in the words for what these families were going through.  We have become so insensitive to people and things.  This has made me realize that I need to be more sensitive to people and what they are going through.  You never know who you could be reading about in tomorrow’s paper.

Please pray for these three families.  Two families have lost children here and the other teen is in critical condition.  I have not gone back to find out any other information.  I have decided I do not need to know – only that I am going to pray for his family and for his recovery, if it is God’s will.  If you would like to know more about this sweet girl, click here.

It breaks my heart. I can close my eyes and see Taylor, Sarah, Pierce, Nicholas and all the other children running around. The thought of what Tammy and Greg are going through makes be feel physically sick.

Do you have an address where we can send a card to them?
